Where it sits in the series

This is a prequel, set fifteen years before A Plague Tale: Requiem, following a new protagonist rather than continuing the earlier story. You do not need to have played the previous games to follow it.

That structure is worth knowing if the release date matters to you because of series order: chronologically this comes first, even though it released last.

Day-one on Game Pass

The Game Pass timing is unusual enough to note. Arriving in a subscription service the same month as launch changes the buying calculation — at about 11.5 hours for the main story, one subscription month is comfortably enough to finish it.

Storage and install

Plan for 75 GB, and note that Asobo lists an SSD as a requirement rather than a recommendation. If you are installing on release-week timing, that space needs to be free on a solid-state drive.

Reception since launch

Early reception has been solid: 85 on Metacritic for PC, 82 "Strong" on OpenCritic across 94 outlets, and 93% positive from 2,454 Steam reviews.

Player review counts this early are still climbing, so the Steam percentage will move. The critic consensus, built on 94 outlets, is unlikely to shift much.

Is there a demo?
