Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy Walkthrough Overview

Updated 2026-09-02 · Facts verified against official sources

Fourteen chapters, about 11.5 hours, linear throughout. This page maps the shape of the campaign — the chapter order, where the difficulty shifts, and what to expect at each stage.

The chapter order

#Chapter#Chapter
1Blood Ties8Night Has Come
2Felons9Unpredictable
3Those Before Us10Parallel Paths
4From Hell It Rose11Patera
5Desolation It Wrought12They Were People
6What Lies Beneath13Fading Light
7Death It Sowed14As One

Names are taken from the in-game achievement list, where each chapter completion is a separate unlock. That matters because several playthrough videos circulating online number the chapters incorrectly.

How the game is structured

This is a linear, chapter-driven design. There is no open world and no meaningful backtracking during a first run — the pacing is authored, and the route through each chapter is largely fixed.

Two consequences follow, and both are useful to know going in:

Collectibles sit on your path, not off it. The completionist time on HowLongToBeat is about 14 hours against 11.5 for the story — a gap of only 2.5 hours. In an open-world game that gap is usually measured in dozens of hours. Here, what you miss you miss by walking past a side room.

Chapter replay is the cleanup mechanism. Because the game is chaptered and linear, going back for a missed item means replaying that chapter rather than travelling to a region.

The three phases

Chapters 1-3 — setup. The opening establishes Sophia, the island, and the systems. Combat is introduced gradually. This stretch runs lighter on puzzles.

Chapters 4-9 — the labyrinth. The era-shifting mechanic comes fully into play, and this is where the puzzle density peaks. Chapter 4 contains the Minotaur trial, the first sequence that genuinely tests the mechanic rather than demonstrating it.

Chapters 10-14 — the back half. Search interest drops sharply here, which reflects how far players have progressed rather than anything about the content — the game released on 27 August 2026 and most people have not finished it.

What changed from the earlier games

If you played the previous entries, recalibrate on one point: this one leans into melee. The series was built around stealth and avoidance; here you parry, counter and use throwables against pursuers.

Approaching every encounter as something to sneak past will make the game harder than it needs to be. Difficulty is adjustable if the combat rhythm does not click.

Chapter-by-chapter detail

Individual chapter pages are being built out as we verify their content. What we publish per chapter is the confirmed name, position, associated achievement and known mechanics — not a step-by-step route assembled from unreliable sources.

A wrong walkthrough costs you more time than no walkthrough. Where we have the detail verified, it goes up; where we do not, the page says so.
